But what it did do is cross her off of my list of authors to read. This is just one example of many where the plot was not well thought out.
I could not believe that that a writer of this caliber would come out with a book like this. For example, the main character's car broke down near the beginning of this book as she is fleeing people who are trying to murder her and as luck would have it this a small plane goes down near by.
I have to say that the premise sounded great but the writing was amateurish and the plot not well thought out. Doesn't she think that the first thing they would do is look up the registration of her car.
It turns out that one of the occupants of the plane is a law officer and she will not tell him her last name. Hello.
It appeared that it was thrown together to meet a deadline or something. Michael Connelly has nothing to worry about.
The description of that cave and what happened therein freaked me out a lot, and tells me Catherine Coulter is a very talented storyteller. I enjoy the fact that CC writes so descriptively. I really enjoyed this addition to the FBI series. I love many of the historical novels as well. They are good interchanged with her other offerings. I used to tell our kids to "write as if your reader is blind so they can see it, too." It is not always heavy - I enjoy the other story lines woven throughout embellish the story, even the personal ones between our heroes. One thing I will never forget was in another novel where a woman was spelunking and became disoriented. Thanks. Love the tales.
I honestly don't know why Catherine Coulter still writes. The characters are flat with no real chemistry or depth, the story is laughable and even Sherlock and Savich are getting old and tired. All of her books have the same characters, the same dialogue and the same ending. To be brutally honest, the last couple of her books have sucked. She really needs to grow as a writer and move on to other subjects. Will not be reading anymore of her books.
So, why were so many (I think, all) the people shot by the FBI (and even by Rachael, who can be excused) shot in the arm or shoulder, on purpose. Law enforcement folks are trained to shoot for center mass.
Also, I like to see strong women featured. The story line seemed to jump/jerk and then ramble. I gave it 3 stars because I enjoyed some of the dialog.
"Fanning" a Kimber.45. The way the FBI agents confronted the rich and powerful was beyond unreal.
They would have been lucky to get work as rent-a-cops after that.Coulter has no idea what a firearm looks like or how it is used by law enforcement. Anything else would be hazardous to them and to the public they are supposed to consider protecting.
Coulter needs a tech consultant for those issues.
Another super and terrific thriller by Catherine.I have enjoyed every one of her FBI series and this is one of the best.
